At Nature's Nurse we believe there are 3 necessary parts in the creation of great herbal products:
- Understanding the consumers health and wellness needs
- We ask many questions about consumers health and wellness concerns to really understand consumer needs and then we test our products on real users until they meet our standards of effectiveness, fast acting, easy and pleasant to use.
- Using the most effective, active, synergistic and highest quality ingredients possible
- Most active and therapeutic herbal ingredients available - sourced from around the world
- All ingredients are GRAS (Generally Regarded As Safe) and have many, many years of documented safe and effective human use.
- The whole is greater than the sum of the parts - the ingredients are selected specifically to support the activities of the other ingredients used and to provide the benefits required by our precious consumers.

We truly believe that natural is best. Our products contain none of these ingredients we consider to be potentially harmful:
- NB: We use only the highest quality, high altitude organic essential oil of medicinal English Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) - which is regarded by leading aromatherapist and naturopaths to non-allergenic and to be safe for topical use on delicate skin, in childhood and pregnancy. True medicinal Lavender essential oil is composed mainly of ester compounds and is a gentle oil with calming and balancing properties. It is known to be anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and a good skin regenerator, along with having calming and soothing properties for emotions. It is useful in easing muscle pain, for headaches and insomnia. Other non medicinal, (lower cost) species of Lavender (Spike, Stoechas, hybrids) are higher in oxides and ketones, which can be more irritant, aggressive and possibly hazardous. We do not use these types of Lavender oils at Nature's Nurse.
- No Synthetic Preservatives such as Parabens. Methyl, Butyl, Propyl and Ethyl parabens are the most commonly used preservatives. Studies show these synthetic ingredients can be quickly absorbed into skin tissue & organs where they mimic the body's endocrine/hormone activity - with evidence linking synthetic parabens to the growth and development of breast cancer and other tumours. In general, the body has no mechanism for "unlocking" synthetic ingredients and generally tries to excrete them or to store them in the liver or other organs. This possibly explains the development of tumours, and why these preservatives disrupt the optimum functioning of our bodies.
- No Imidazalidinyl Urea & DMDM Hydantoin: Other common synthetic preservatives that release formaldehyde. Readily absorbed through the skin. Commonly used as a preservative in mortuaries. Classified as a known carcinogen and skin irritant
- Nature's Nurse products use no synthetic or harmful preservatives - we use an effective mix of plant extracts and essential oil fractions.
- No Genetically Modified Ingredients - We believe natural is best. All our ingredient suppliers certify they only provide us non GMO ingredients.
- No Irradiated ingredients - irradiation is a standard practice in many countries - unfortunately killing off all enzyme activity, whether beneficial or harmful, in raw ingredients. All our ingredients are of the highest quality and in their whole state.
- No Potentially irritating or harmful ingredients used
- No Mineral Oil or Petroleum Jellys - A mix of refined liquid hydrocarbons derived from petroleum. Blocks the pores of the bodies largest organ - the skin - affecting the way skin can perform vital functions. We use only highest quality natural edible oils, and natural gel formers.
- No Isopropyl Alcohol / Rubbing Alcohol: This ingredient is prepared from propylene, which is obtained in the cracking of petroleum. Changes another substances natural qualities or characteristics.
- No DEA Cocomide DEA/MEA Lauramide DEA . Widely used as a foaming agent and cleanser in toiletry products. Readily absorbed through skin. A hormone disruptor linked to major increase in liver and kidney cancers. We only use plant derived natural foamers and cleansing agents from coconut and palm kernel trees.
- No Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) & Sodium Laureth Sulphate Widely used to make products foam. Can penetrate skin and enter organs. SLS stays in body for up to 5 days. Can cause potentially carcinogenic nitrates and dioxins to form in the shampoo, by reacting with the other ingredients. Skin and eye irritant. We only use naturally derived surfactants from coconut and palm kernel trees.
- No synthetic colour pigments - such as F.D & C Colour Pigments. Causes skin sensitivity and irritation. Absorption can cause depletion of oxygen in body. Our products are naturally coloured.
- No Synthetic Fragrances. Considered possibly carcinogenic and toxic. Synthetic fragrance can indicate presence of up to 3,000 separate ingredients. We only use the highest quality essential oils for their beautiful and therapeutic aroma.
